May You Be Stronger: A mental health workshop for gay men as part of Pink Fest.
Panelists involved:
1) Lawrence Goh (He/Him) (Senior Counsellor, Oogachaga)
- Lawrence has been working in the social service sector since 2007, focusing on providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families dealing with a variety of challenges. As a senior clinician, his responsibilities include supervising counsellors and interns, as well as conducting workshops for both the public and fellow practitioners.
Specializing in couple and family therapy, as well as trauma treatment, Lawrence is deeply passionate about supporting and developing professionals in the helping field. He also has a keen interest in the practice and facilitation of mindfulness as a valuable life skill.
Before transitioning to social services, Lawrence gained 12 years of corporate experience as a senior manager in the IT sector, overseeing service levels, network security, and consulting services. With 17 years of experience addressing complex relationship issues and mental health challenges—including depression, anxiety, and trauma—he helps clients manage stress related to caregiving, workplace pressures, personal health, and grief and loss.
2) Daniel Ho (He/Him) (Learning Coordinator, The Greenhouse SG)
- Daniel volunteers as the learning coordinator at The Greenhouse, where he conducts learning programmes, and provides group supervision for the volunteer counselors. He is a clinical psychologist by training, with key interests in the fields of trauma, youth, as well as vulnerable and marginalised populations. He also supports clinical, research, and consulting work relating to queer populations, substance use, HIV and sexual health related fields in other community based organisations.
3) Opera Tang (She/They) (Drag Artist)
- Opera is a rising star in Singapore’s drag scene. The protagonist in Singapore’s first-ever drag feature film, BABY QUEEN, Opera has graced the red carpets of major film festivals and has performed at international pride events. On her socials, Opera loves sharing her hair, makeup and costuming adventures through queer yet down-to-earth voiceovers. She also shares a close bond with her loveable 93-year-old Ah Ma, who makes well-received appearances on her page. Opera hopes that by sharing her lived experiences, she will increase visibility and relatability to LGBTQ+ and women’s issues – all while looking fabulous.
